Scarlett, 12, was able to attend Cain Center of the Arts Ceramics Summer Camp through our Mood Williams Camp Scholarship Fund. She loves all things art and hadn’t had the opportunity to try ceramics. She was able to try this art form and enjoy camp with another friend who was attending.
Scarlett shared, “Camp was so fun. It was really interesting to learn how to make pottery from the pottery wheel. I loved playing charades at the end of class with other campers. It was really funny.”
A Mom’s Reflection
The Go Jen Go Foundation supported Scarlett’s mom, Jackie, as she went through her treatment for Stage II, DCIS and Invasive Carcinoma helping provide groceries for her and her two children. Jackie shared, “I was blown away by the kindness and thoughtfulness of this scholarship for my daughter. Cancer has been hard for my family, so it was nice to have one good thing for my kids. Cancer impacts the entire family, not just the mom. You need to have fun things to look forward to, so you don’t break down.”
From a Child’s Perspective
We always love hearing about our grantees from their children. Scarlett shared, “My mom is kind to me and lets me do different things that interest me. She always supports me.”
Mood’s Fund
This summer we were able to support 33 children with summer camps or programming through our Mood Williams Camp Scholarship Fund. Giving these children a chance to smile, laugh and find joy during a difficult time. We are grateful for our 2025 sponsors Nucor Charitable Foundation and Myers Park Methodist Church’s Builders Class. If you’d like to help support Mood’s Fund you can donate here or reach out to Jessie Nash to learn more about the fund and opportunities to get connected.
