Our community partner Matone Counseling and Testing has some tips to remember while managing tough feelings during your breast cancer journey.

Tip 1: Learn to recognize when you are angry. Practice cultivating awareness of subtle signs of anger – such as tension or heat in the body or racing thoughts – and allow yourself to sit with the discomfort without judgment or suppression.

Tip 2: Release self-judgments. Practice self-compassion by treating yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would a young child or dear friend in need, allowing anger as well as any emotions underneath your anger – often sadness, grief, loss or fear.

Tip 3: Embrace self-compassion. Practice self-compassion by reminding yourself that you are human and deserving of kindness and understanding, regardless of your perceived

Tip 4: Cultivate forgiveness. Recognize that forgiveness is a gradual process that unfolds over time and may require many attempts before it is genuine and complete.
