Our community partner The After Cancer has some great tips on how to make healthy choices with nutrition during your breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
Tip 1: Plants. Plants. Plants. Plants, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds are key. But that doesn’t mean to cut out dairy and meat altogether, they should be more a side dish or a seasoning. Plants should be the star on your plate!
Tip 2: Eat the rainbow. The more colors (of plants and vegetables) on your plate, the better!
Tip 3: Live a little! While diet is important, you haven’t made it through all you’ve gone through just to limit yourself. Find joy in food and celebrate positive changes you can start.
Tip 4: Which fruits and veggies are the best? Follow the “dirty dozen and clean 15” to help limit your toxin intake. Watching your budget? Great news! Frozen produce can be higher in nutrients than fresh produce.
