Our foundation was honored to be able to support Sheila during her breast cancer journey and help give her financial support to focus on her health and fight against breast cancer. Here is a reflection Sheila shared when we recently checked in with her about her health and what Go Jen Go meant to her.

I am a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in December of 2023.   I will never forget that phone call or the shock and numbness I felt in that moment. How could I share this news with my loved ones, especially my kids, when I hadn’t even had the chance to process this? I immediately knew that I had to draw on my faith to get me through this. I leaned on my support system and my faith to endure the scans, biopsies and aggressive treatment plan. I am approaching a close to my journey of healing after my most recent surgery confirmed no evidence of cancer was found. The treatment and surgeries were a success! I continue to manifest that I will remain in remission for years to come.

The Go Jen Go Foundation was able to help support some of my monthly bills while I was in treatment. The assistance I received helped alleviate some of the stress that comes with added medical expenses. Go Jen Go is vital to patients such as myself. Their financial and emotional support, resources and willingness to connect their grantees with one another is unmatched.

Similar to Jen’s story – I recognized the time and effort of my village.  I could not have gotten this far without them. I have to acknowledge my medical team (doctors, nurses, navigators, social workers, infusion team, techs and all the staff at Levine Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering). Their care and kindness during this time of my life will always be a part of my story.  I commend them all for their professionalism, and genuine kindness and empathy.

I want to remind you to find a way to give back and to pay it forward to organizations like Go Jen Go. This organization consistently makes a difference in the lives of so many who are in need. It’s not easy to ask for help, but the kind of assistance they provide, softens the journey. I look forward to volunteering with the Go Jen Go organization in the near future – and can’t wait to share how her story ends!
